Woodshed Films, Patagonia, and NIXON are proud
to announce the Canadian premiere for Keith Malloy’s debut film project, Come
Hell or High Water.
The film explores the history and progression of the sport of bodysurfing and the pureness that comes from riding a wave. Shot primarily in 16mm, the film takes a unique look at the culture, beauty and simplicity of the sport, capturing the stories and locations of those who belong to this community.
While Malloy is most widely known for his time in the water as a surfer, his exploration into the world of bodysurfing began some 10 years ago when he wanted to reconnect with the ocean and did so through bodysurfing. Said Malloy about this project, “It’s about taking a breath and kicking your feet in the big blue sea.”
The Canadian premiere of "Come Hell or High Water" will take place on October 1st, 6:30PM at the Canadian Surf Film Festival, Empire Theatre Park Lane. Keith Malloy is scheduled to attend the event and NIXON will be on hand to give out popcorn to the first 200 ticket holders.

Over the years cult films like Thomas Campbell’s Sprout introduced the masses to the lesser known surf discipline of body surfing. Avid body surfer Keith Malloy takes it to the logical next step with his directorial debut in a feature film about the sport of body surfing. Featuring some of the most recognized names in the sport, the film explores the simplicity and beauty of swimming in the ocean and riding waves with simple tools like fins and small pieces of wood called hand planes. This is a film that will make even the most jaded surfer fall in love with the power of riding waves all over again. An instant classic of the surf film genre.
Cast – Mark Cunningham, Mike Stewart, Dan Malloy, Chris Kalima, Thomas Melum, Crystal Thorner-Homcy
